Luke 11:1-13 - If your anything like me you have had times in your prayer life when you simply have not known what to pray for. You find yourself at a loss. You start to wonder what a balanced prayer life looks like. You have things you want to ask God for, but you start to feel like you only go to Him when you need stuff. What should you pray for? You have probably even found yourself giving up on prayer after a while. You have sought God for a particular need or request and after you don’t get an answer in a week or so you drop it and move on. I mean God is busy. He does not want me to sound like a broken record. When should I drop this request and move on? You may even wonder why you should have confidence God will answer your prayers. Why should we believe the God of the universe would care to answer prayers from little ole me? I think most of us have had these question come up as we have prayed or considered prayer. These are the kinds of questions we certainly cannot answer on our own. We are on the outside looking in, right? In our passage tonight Jesus gives us an insider perspective on prayer. He shares what we should pray for, how we should pray, and why we can have confidence in our prayers.
