Many claim to be a child of God, but what does this really mean? The Apostle John teaches that being a child of God is more than simply being created by God. Being a child of God begins with faith that is so radical that it changes everything about us. Faith and life lived cannot be separated. They go hand in hand. Just as a child bears resemblance to his/her father, true children of God will resemble their Heavenly Father with their lives. John teaches these truths without pulling any punches. When hearing this teaching it can be easy to begin to wonder if you are indeed a child of God b/c you know how often you fall short of living out your faith in joyful obedience to God. Being a child of God does not mean you will never sin, it means you have found the answer for your sin in Jesus as you strive to live for Him. (1 John 2:28-3:10)
