Greetings from Texas! It’s hard to believe, but we are officially citizens of Round Rock! As many of you know we left Missouri on June 30, and on July 1 we moved into our apartments here in Round Rock. Since then we have been working hard to get settled in our new homes and city.

In our last newsletter we shared some of our prayer requests and we know that many of you have kept us in your prayers; thank you! Over the last several weeks we have experienced God’s grace and provision in some amazing ways. Here are some of the highlights:

The Move

There is nothing easy about moving two families six hundred miles, but by God’s grace the process went incredibly well. As we prepared to leave Springfield we had many people help us load our moving trucks and when we arrived in Round Rock many others came to help us unpack. Also, some of our dear friends, the Harper family, went above and beyond and helped us as we drove down with our moving truck. We are so thankful for the safety that God provided and for each of you who pitched in to make the process easier for us.

New Jobs

Last month we also asked you to pray that God would provide jobs for us here in Round Rock. In the last three weeks we have been blown away as we have seen God answer our prayers in very specific and tangible ways. In less than a month we have all secured jobs that are in the fields in which we desired to work, that are close to where we will be living and ministering and that have schedules that will allow us the time we need to focus on the ministry. We are praising God for blessing us beyond what we even believed was possible. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement along the way.

What’s Next?

Now that we are here and getting settled we are excited to begin the work of planting Southern Hills. There are many things we are working on and preparing for, but here are a few things that we want you to be aware of and keep in your prayers.

  • Our primary focus over the next several months will be developing relationships with our neighbors and coworkers. Please pray that God will use us to be a blessing to those whom we live near and work with. Also, pray that we will be bold with the Gospel and that we can see people come to know Christ.
  • One way in which we hope to meet many of our neighbors is through a Back to School event that we will host for our apartment complex on August 9. We have a mission’s team from Trinity Baptist Church in Abilene, Texas coming to help us as we provide an evening of fun, food and prizes for the people in our apartment complex. Please pray that God will be honored as we love and serve our neighbors. For more details see Back to School Bash.
  • In September we will begin holding Bible Studies in our homes. Over the next month we will be telling people about our plans and inviting them to join us for studies from God’s Word. Please pray that God will soften people’s hearts and that He will use us to share His truth with them.

We are very thankful for the many ways that God has provided for us and for the people that He has used to help us along the way. Thank you to each one who has encouraged us, prayed for us and given financially to the ministry of Southern Hills. Your efforts are not in vain.

May God receive the glory from our lives and from the ministry of Southern Hills.
